The authentic Lebanese fatteh 👍

What is fatteh?

Fatteh is a typical dish from the southern Levant. It is essentially composed of chickpeas, Greek yogurt, grilled pita bread. It is one of the staple foods at the end of Ramadan and is generally eaten as the first breakfast.

Ingredients :

  • Chickpeas
  • Greek yogurt
  • pita bread
  • Cashew nuts, pine nuts
  • Pomegranates, pistachios (optional)
  • Salt / Pepper / Cinnamon
  • Garlic

The bread :

Cut your pita bread into small pieces, fry them in boiling sunflower oil until they turn red. Then set them aside to cool.

Chickpeas :

Take your chickpeas, and put them in a saucepan of water over medium heat until boiling, add a pinch of salt.

Yogurt :

Take your Greek yogurt, mix it with garlic, salt, a little pepper and cinnamon.

Regrouping :

You can then group these elements in the following order:

  • Chickpeas
  • The bread
  • Yogurt
  • Put a few pieces of bread on top of the yogurt
  • Bread nuts, pomegranate, pine nuts, cashew nuts.
